In The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (direct to video, so you may have missed it ๐), Ariel unfortunately becomes a boring house queen who hides her true, spectacular mer-identity from her adolescent daughter. (Plus, the animators decided mid-30s/40yo Ariel had not aged a day. I suppose she did avoid excessive sun exposure while living under the sea for the first 16 years ;)
Apparently there is some speculation that theyโll remake this in the future? Or maybe theyโll write something a bit more exciting for Ariel than repressing her feelings as a mother indefinitely, which seems likeโฆ a step backwards? (I see TLM2 was made in 2000, aka the era when everyone forgot about Riot Grrls and tuned in to Britney on TRL instead, which sadly tracks.)
This was a great start to my morning :)

Lovely read, Ryan! Thank you for sharing. I can definitely relate and wish that I was local so that I could join for the event!
Oh, I so wish you could too!
