It definitely applies to me, friend. I'm reading Angela Garbes' "Essential Labor" right now, and so much of it boils down to that -- about how we have to make the ways in which we love others and the ways in which we love our capital-w Work somehow compatible, when that's very hard to do under our current system. Especially if the Work we are called to do doesn't pay us millions of dollars either. She is clear, and I am clear, on the fact that you do not have to be a new parent to understand that struggle. We are all dealing with this systemic issue. Even if the bigger solutions are systemic as well, it's also important to take these individual quiet moments to resist the hustle and renew our connection to the self, as Das notes. We might even see these "sacred fives" as the seeds of this larger liberation work.
