We have a passion flower that amazes us every year - it now spreads the length of our fence and isn’t even in the ground - it’s in a wooden planter and proves us wrong every summer! The flowers are stunning, so intricate I feel like I’m looking at a secret of the universe!
This really spoke to me as I’m navigating grief. I just spoke at my dad’s memorial a few days ago and talked about how he shared his passion for growing vegetables and planted in me the desire to someday grow my own food garden. 🫶🍃
Oh, honey. Losing a baby so late is harder than hard. After I miscarried, 30 years ago this May, I went out and bought the biggest Bleeding Heart bush I could find. And when I moved a few years later I dug it up and brought it with me. I have split that plant so often that I have a number of them around the house. I've even given them away. When ever i see the blooms I can remember that time and the sweet one I lost. Blessings to you.
Thank you for sharing this, and for being here. I’m so sorry for your loss. I actually also acquired a bleeding heart for our memorial garden, but it didn’t fare well there for whatever reason. The sunflowers did, though, thankfully. It was a lesson for me in understanding that as gardeners and humans, we do our best, but ultimately, we don’t entirely control the process.
Lovely—thank you 🙏🏻
So incredibly honored to be in community with you here, Elissa.
This is truly stunning writing --- Grateful for it.
What a beautiful name for your daughter Ryan.
